The Town

A quirky village in a far away land. Returning 2024.

THE TOWN

Licola Wilderness Village.

The town is a mock interactive village that parodies society in a creative, family friendly, interactive and totally absurd themed village.

It is full of immersive buildings, activities, characters + shenanigans around every corner! It also explores what makes a sustainable Town and focuses on healthy and sustainable living, connection over consumption, and sustainable solutions.

The theme this year will be Summer Vacation, taking a long needed vacation from life and landing in a quirky, sustainable destination called The Town.

Concept

The concept behind the Town is to create a colourful, immersive village that parodies the real world.

The festivals is full of interactive spaces, actors and narrative to explore, and we also encourage all to bring their own characters and ideas to share with the event.

It also is a sustainable village, that allows us to reflect on how we live our daily lives, and make choices that are best for ourselves, our community and the planet.

This melding of absurdity and sustainability is what makes the concept so unique and special.

Sustainability

The Town is a family friendly event. It prides itself on self-care, land care, and community care, with a huge focus on connection instead of consumption.

Each year we further explore how to be more sustainable, and encourage all to party in a way that is healthy and could keep being done forever. This is one of the most important things to keep our beautiful Town striving.

Licola is now running on 95 percent sustainable energy, and we continue to improve our own sustainable initiatives each year. We encourage you to use the festival as a reflection point on how to lives your own lives in a more healthy and sustainable fashion.

Location

In a beautiful valley on the Macalister, river lives a little town called Licola. It is owned by the Lions club and the Villages main goal is to run disability and disadvantaged youth camps all year round. The running of our festival helps support them do this great work.

At this time of year, the deciduous trees are falling beautiful colors all over the site, the rainfall is low, and the grass is green. The site is one of the few Festivals that can boast lush green grass and no dust.

Accessibility Tickets and Information

Cheaper tickets  + Companion cards accepted.

We are working hard to make sure The Town a more inclusive and accessible event, with a big focus t on physical accessibility.

Our site, the Licola Wilderness Village, runs inclusive camps and have built their site with accessibility in mind.

Paved roads run through much of the site, and 80 percent of our themed spaces have ramp access. Those that don’t, we will do our best to provide a solution for, such as ramp access through back of the buildings. or temporary ramps.

Music

The music at the Town is big mix of live bands and live electronica (with musicians), covering a huge range of styles and cultures. It focuses on fun, funky, and social music, with as much live and human elements as possible.

To keep the focus on the whole experience, we will be slowly releasing the lineup leading up to the festival.
