The year is 2080. 40 years after the Fall of Melbourne. Shortly after the Apocalypse a unique base was built in the heart of New Kensington to gather like-minded Rebels. It’s focus was on a return to basics and sustainable practices, learning from the catastrophic mistakes of the past.
Over the last 40 years this base has slowly evolved from a Rebel Hide-out into a fully functioning cyber city, integrating technology sustainably and with wisdom and patience. An elaborate science team has emerged, creating mind bending experiments to assist with medicine, communication and even digital time-portals for people to visit back to the early years before the Apocalypse via a time projector. Deadly Virus’ and Digital STD’s are down to an all-time low in the community thanks to our amazing medic team. Their unique Peruvian herbal tonics and blood transfusions have kept our community safe and healthy for many years. For education and entertainment, we have been able to source a much wider range of cinematic material for out Cyber Cinema. 40 years ago we were scouring the ruined city for visual artifacts, but now we can share data with our allies across the world leading to a vast visual collection.
Not all of our community is dictated by technology however. Living in simplicity in the city streets are the Neo-Luddites (anti-technologists). They make up a small section of our community and believe that we have made a huge mistake by re-introducing technology since Melbourne’s fall. It is seen as a regression to The Old World, and argued that the Apocalypse should have led the way for a return to basics, not a repeat of the past mistakes. The Techgnostics on the other hand see to the daily operations of the Cyber temple and believe technology will evolve us both physically and spiritually to a higher state of being, and that the organic and technological will one day become completely symbiotic. The have developed some amazing bio-technology working closely with the science team.
The community is now approaching a large induction of New Recruits. On June 7th it is opening its doors to hackers, cyberpunks and truth seekers, to help fight against growing outside control. The city’s interrogation team will make sure only the right people make their way in, and are known to cause trouble if recruits arise suspicion. During the day the tech-lab team will be taking 3d scans, and have developed a communication system based on unique micro-chipped bands. These are external chips, unlike in the outside world. The bands can have names, body scans, missions and messages of hope uploaded to them. throughout the city. Important hacker work is also needed to be in the laser zone, a virtual battlefield where we can fight against digital barriers to truth and information. The wars of the old world are archaic and this is where the New World War takes place, and we need your help to fight!
The great gathering of June 7th is also a chance to celebrate 40 years as a community and our achievements. We have an unique array of Cyber sonic artists, projection mappers, genetically engineered bar-staff serving bio-cocktails, virtual holiday stations and a neo-market with vapers, face transformations and neo-punk haircuts, alongside the already mentioned areas of the city. A small amount of recruitment places and micro-chipped wristbands are still available for those who believe they are up to the challenge. Get in quick, and stay safe out there…. and please note, clothing of the Old World is not welcomed and will lead to interrogation.
